Drain buried under tons of mud and silt

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 17:42, Fri 27 December 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6902658.

The drain by the kerbstone is buried under tons of mud and silt and water floods across the road when there is a small amount of rain. This is a recurring problem as the field wash off continuously blocks the drain every time it rains.

Council ref: ENQ241028931

  • Nothing has been done by the OCC, however the locals have dug out the tons of mud/grass and cleared the top area of the drain. The drain and associated pipework is still blocked with mud/silt and needs the “drain cleaner” to suck the debris out and the pipework probably needs rod cleaning across to the other side of the road. It’s high time OCC fixed this as it’s constantly flooded and solid black ice across the whole junction due to the flood water. Surprised no one has been killed in an accident at this junction.

  • Still a lethal junction due to blocked drain. Water has spread over the whole junction and frozen - ice and black ice in all directions, making it lethal to drive, turn in or out of the junction. Not surprised OCC didn’t grit the road this morning, but then if they actually unblocked the drain they wouldn’t need to. Get it sorted out pronto.
