St.Nicholas Footbridge Flooding Defence Compromised by Vandalism

Reported via desktop in the Bridges category anonymously at 16:57, Fri 27 December 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6902528.

Not content with ripping down some 12 panel fences along the walkway here.(Boxhill Road/Walk StreamFootbridge).Hurling the Litter Bin into the Stream,Chucking Bicycles into the Stream The Pitbulls have been at it again. The Footbride Bridge Embankment Flood Defence has been dismantled in part and the Slabs hurled willy nilly by mindless Council estate Vandals almost certainly into the Stream.mid Course. Actions Have Consequences. Flood Defence Stream Embankments are there for a purpose. Removing them especially with huge tree roots adjacent now unprotected from erosion . The Cut through Path adjoining is now compromised. It & the huge trees on the bank could tumble into the water making the path into Fitharris Estate permanently inaccessible.(No bad thing quite a few Residents may say, sick to the back teeth with the irresponsible antics of these morons from 'across there') 'St Nicholas' who appears every Christmas with the Black Pieters or used to (until late 1960s)carrying Candy for Good Folks and Birch Rods for Bad ones will no longer be able to get across the footbridge as he waits up by the woods.Rather ironic. It may take time for the high waters to do their work but a vital flood defence is now precarious
