Road filthy with thick mud and debris spread along road from quarry and haulage vehicles
Reported via mobile in the Other Road Issues category anonymously at 19:50, Tue 24 December 2024
Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6897544.
Road is covered in thick mud, unsafe for driving on, tarmac has lost its surface grip/slippery due to vast increase of haulage Lorrie’s and trucks now accessing the old Fawley power station site and quarry, thus wearing out the road. This is an accident waiting to happen. Please deal with as a matter of urgency.

My report has been closed by HCC yesterday, not sure why as the road and pavement are still covered in muddy sand. Here’s another photo I took this afternoon. Please can this be cleaned up as kids will be using the pavement to go to back to school on Monday!

We have worked out the issue here. This is sand being deposited and not mud and only covers the road and pavement along the carriageway heading away from the quarry towards the Holbury direction. The location regularly floods when it rains due to the drain being blocked. This causes a large deep puddle to form across the road by the bus stop. When the Lorry’s leave the quarry and drive through it, the water rinses sand from the underside of their vehicles, which is then deposited across the road and pavement. This issue is caused by the blocked drain at the location and is therefore a highways maintenance matter. Highways, please unblock the drain and this issue will be resolved - Thank you!
