Dead tree requires reduction in size/removal

Reported via desktop in the Tree Requires Pruning category anonymously at 16:11, Fri 13 December 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6859430.

Alongside the alleyway between Knoll Rise and Elm Grove and behind my house is a dead pear tree that is taller than my 3 storey house at c15 metres tall. It has died and in the recent strong winds a small but notable branch has fallen and lodged in the tree in my garden. If the tree fell in my direction it would crush my fence bordering the alleyway and potentially hit my house/kitchen extension. It stands in an overgrown patch of land that has been left untended for decades. The tree clearly needs reducing in size or even potentially removing to remove the likelihood of it blocking the alleyway and damaging my fence and potentially hitting my house. It's not clear who owns the land.

  • Absolutely nothing has been done! Your contractor has not removed so much as a twig! I'm extremely disappointed. You explained the possible timescale but it's been nearly 10 Weeks since I made my initial report and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REMOVE OR REDUCE THE TREE!!! I would like a quick response and some immediate action having been fobbed off with blatant lies.

  • The guys did an excellent job and reduced the very tall dead pear tree to a sensible level. However, I'm guessing that they failed to notice that a large branch, around 2 metres long, became wedged in the trees over the path where it remains to date. If it falls there's a risk it will land on the footpath and it's quite a heavy looking branch and could cause serious injury.
