An oak tree has just been planted in the verge outside no. 48. It’s approximately 15feet away from a mature oak tree already the responsibility of the council.

I would ask that this should be removed and an alternative smaller type of tree be planted in this site. Two oak trees in such close proximity doesn’t seem wise when the roots of these trees can be a problem in the future to buildings close by. The house adjoining me has already had to dig substantially deeper to provide safe foundations to a new porch being built because of the original oak tree.

We consider there is sufficient space for these two trees to grow and allowing for a natural progression of the younger tree into the space when the older tree requires removal. We do not have plans to remove the tree.

This tree has been inspected and is not considered to require remedial works at this time. Bromley will only undertake works to a tree for an identified health & safety or highway obstruction issue.
