Street cleaning is not happening as advertised

Reported via mobile in the Litter and Detritus category anonymously at 22:29, Sat 7 December 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council 1 month, 2 weeks, 16 hours, 13 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 6833052.

Despite being told that the roads around Castledine road and anerley park are due to be cleaned 2x per week it seems the council is now operating an opt in service where specific spots in streets are only cleaned when residents ask? How is this acceptable- the amount of rubbish and fly tipping in the area is horrendous, the worst I’ve experienced in London, and it’s a blatant misuse of our council tax to say there is a contract to clean 2x week when this categorically isn’t happening. It’s shameful

  • Please can you explain to residents exactly what action has been taken? Where is our council tax money being spent exactly? You’re lying to residents by saying the pavements are cleaned 2x per week but actually just relying on them to self report so you can send contractors to do the absolute bare minimum with zero accountability. It’s shameful

  • We ask that new and separate occurrences of issues are logged as new reports to avoid conflicting information or updates and ensure the information is passed promptly to our contractor. Please log the issue via https://fix.bromley.gov.uk as a new report using the map marker and description to detail where the issue is located. Please note that if the location you wish to mark is already occupied by a pin, you can hide the map pins via the button in the bottom left or you can click a nearby free section of the map to drop your green reporting pin so that all other yellow pins indicating existing reports disappear, you can then click and drag your green pin to the correct location and continue submitting your report.

Thank you for using FixMyStreet to report your concerns to Bromley.

  • This is an ongoing issue. Residents want a response from Joanna Morris as to why there are no regular cleans in SE20? There have been literally 100s of reports and the whole postcode is shamefully dirty and seemingly ignored by Bromley council?

  • I have to agree. I went through Penge and SE20 today and it all looks very tatty and neglected. Litter permeates most streets, gutters remain unswept, bags of rubbish kick around. I would say that routine street cleaning does not happen and that LBB is now reliant on people making reports - to which nothing happens either.

The whole of SE20 is dirty, litter-strewn and neglected. Shame on you LBB for not doing your bit to keep our borough clean and presentable. 😔😔

  • Per the numerous reports from various residents please can you outline why Anerley Park is not being cleaned on the advertised 2x timetable?

  • As an LBB Street Friend and a weekly litter-picker for the.past 10 years, I echo the comments here. I'll be sending photos as evidence to Council Leader Colin Smith unless this is resolved by the end of February.
