Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by Jabid mohammed at 22:50, Fri 6 December 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6829611.

The road gully outside 93 Oxford Road Kidlington is blocked and causing flooding to the road and to the houses at 95 , 93,91,89 Oxford Road and is flooding the crossing in the road in front of 95 Oxford Road . They flooded at the end of September 2024 and on the 5th December 2024 they started to flood. The gully’s in the grass verges are 80% blocked with silt and mud and are not allowing the water to pass away thus overflowing and flooding the houses. This happened 20 years ago and the verge gully’s was cleaned and it kept the area flood free. Now the verge gully’s are 80% blocked and only allowing 20% of the water to pass. The road gully is completely blocked . Yesterday a old man was standing at the lights at the crossing and was splashed up to his head in water as the crossing was also flooded, only 2 years ago a lady was hit by a truck at the same crossing in heavy rain and she passed away at the crossing. This is a big danger to the public and a flood problem to the houses, please unblock the road gully and clean out the slit / mud from the verge gully’s asap , pics show the gully tops lifting with the water in front of 93 and between 95 and 99 Oxford rd. all the verge gully’s from 118 to green road and beyond need to be de-slited asap

  • Engineers cleaned the road drains on 18th December 2024. They lifted the storm run/drain directly outside 93 Oxford Road and confirmed this was and is 50% full of mud and silt as the pictures show. The storm run/drain needs cleaning before further rainfall. There is a danger to life, the road crossing directly adjacent which floods as per the original photos. Please resolve this immediately.
