URGENT (ICE) SEVERAL drains blocked on WItney Lane

Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 09:12, Fri 6 December 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6826053.

This affects the drain near The Old Reading Room and *several others downhill for the next 200m**

The problem is that the drain chambers are blocked **And the drain pipes taking the water way from the drain downhill are also blocked**

This causes flooding on the road and widespeas ICE (from cars splashing the water across the road) in cold weather

This is URGENT

  • The reason this is a big problem is that there is constant drainage of water from the surrounding land onto the road and the blocked drains result in water flowing downhill along the road

  • The drains are still constantly overflowing (even on consecutive dry days) and with more subzero temperatures predicted in the coming days, this needs resolving asap.

  • The job on Monday 24th March 2025 to stop the water running down Witney Lane lasted all of two days. Sadly, the leak has started again and is now running down the road. This problem has not been fixed.

There are also large potholes that have developed due to the water eroding the road.

This has been going on for over 7 years!
