Drains and Gulleys blocked
Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by Wasim mohammad at 22:20, Thu 5 December 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6825290.
Gulleys and storm drains blocked between 99 and 89 oxford road. The storm drains on the pavement between 95 and 99 Oxford Road (on the alleyway) is filled with silt and overflowing. This is where the storm drain water from white way comes into the main road. Secondly the storm drain outside 93 Oxford Road (on the grass by the entrance) is also filled with silt and muck and overflowing. This is causing surface flooding. I have complained about this before and it’s completely unacceptable that my complaint was closed without resolution. I’ve lived here for 20 years with no issues. This is the 3rd time in 3 months the drains have overflowed through lack of maintenance by Oxford County council. Please can this be resolved immediately.

Drains were cleaned on 18th December 2024. These are pictures of the storm drain outside 93 Oxford Road, as you can see, it’s 50% full of silt. The engineers confirmed the main storm run is blocked and needs to be cleaned. I watched them update their notes. Please take action as we’re expecting heavy rain in the next few days and there are many elderly homeowners worried. This is putting lives in danger as seen from previous pictures of the rain water pooling at the crossing. Immediate and urgent action is required!

To confirm, the above is the main storm run opened by the engineers. Despite the drains being cleaned. The storm run is the issue. I’m not sure how far it’s blocked but it needs action urgently. Images show it’s more than 50% full of muck and Silt.
