Excessive surface water/manhole covers rising/danger to cars

Reported via desktop in the Flooding on Road category anonymously at 20:26, Thu 5 December 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6824998.

The excessive flooding arises from the farm track north of the bend on Earls Lane. This is causing manholes to rise and surcharge over the road. This was the case at 7.00 pm Thursday 5/12/2024 . I know that this has occurred before and causes in heavy rain to flood Castle Street and cause flooding from manholes along Castle Street to the junction with Hopcraft Lane. Could you investigate 1) measures to restrict the water flowing from the farm track to stop the danger from rising manhole covers 2) ensure that the water can only flow eastwards into the drainage ditch along the north side of Clifton Road. This seems a relatively simple solution to remove this dangerous situation both on Earls Lane and the B4031 This situation occurs every time there is heavy rain but the danger to road users and to prevent flooding on Castle Street warrants a solution being implemented asap
