We wanted to update you with another flooding incident in Whitecross, last night Sunday 24th November.
Our drive way was clear around 20.45 but within about half an hour our neighbours informed us that our drive way and neighbouring drive ways were beginning to flood badly. We immediately put out planks that we have made specifically ourselves to prevent further water entering our properties and followed this up with the sand bags previously provided. This did stop water flowing further into our properties but we then had to tackle the drains as they were all blocked, we had to go up the road towards Wootton opening all drains and where needed unblocking. This eventually did help so that the flow of water down the road went down the drains instead of our properties.
We discovered walking up the road (towards Wootton) that the main source of the problem again is the Lamborough Hill brook, detailed below in our previous email in March, this was completed blocked again and overflowing, towards Foxcombe Lanes culvert which was also completely blocked. There was a huge amount of water flowing through and flooding the motor bike garage (again) and then down into Whitecross (again), affecting our properties.
Some drains were overflowing and water was coming out of them rather than flowing into, hence water collecting massively on the roads.
If we hadn't responded as quickly as we all did, we think properties would have flooded again, some of which are only just being restored from previous flooding. The Lamborough Hill brook/culvert and Foxcombe Lane brook/culvert need to be seriously investigated please as there seems to be a blocked pipe under the road somewhere.
