Rotten sleeper bridge

Reported anonymously at 14:08, Sat 15 August 2015

Sent to Carlisle City Council and Cumbria County Council 2 minutes later

I was hacking today on this bridleway where you cross a wooden sleeper bridge. The bridge is rotten and my horse's hind leg went completely through the bridge up to its hock and he nearly fell over.

Updates

  • Bridge not even marked unsafe a week after being reported

  • Over 6 weeks and the bridge is still broken and unusable. There is no signage up saying the bridge is unsafe but it is quite visible that it is falling apart. Someone has filled in one of the holes with a metal trailer gate which is totally unsuitable for a horse !
