Dangerous if crossing south to north

Reported via Android in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 13:08, Tue 19 November 2024

Not reported to council

If heading from south to north to cross Badsell Road from this footpath you can't see or be seen by traffic before you actually get on the road. The hedge either side of the path grows right up to the edge of the carriageway and is dense and high. There isn't even a marginal strip of tarmac between it and the lane's edge. To see if it's clear eastwards - nearside traffic you must lean and stick your head out to look then rapidly snap it back in if a vehicle is coming, it's easy to lose balance. Or step fully into the lane hoping nothing is close and then jump back if it is.

It's a fast road with plenty of HGV traffic (3 HGVs passed in maximum 5 minutes. But narrow lanes and a bend to the west would make it difficult for vehicles to avoid any suddenly appearing pedestrians.

It looks like this hedge has been trimmed back before but just keeps growing back and becoming dangerous again. It would help to dig out a few plants either side to give a better viewing angle. And maybe a convex mirror on the other side of the road?
