Bus lane

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 22:15, Sun 9 August 2015

Sent to Leicester City Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 674028.

The length of the bus lane running up to the crossroads between Soar Valley Way and Lutterworth road has led to a very short gap being left for cars needing to use the left hand lane. There is space for approximately 6-8 cars in the left hand lane before the bus lane ends. Because of this, cars which need to enter the left lane become stuck in the middle lane until traffic has moved close enough to the lights for the cars to filter across. During peak times this results in cars sitting in the middle lane when they don’t need to be there and causing tail backs on the road. This has begun since the bus lane was installed 18 months ago, before then the issue didn’t happen as there were 2 lanes available for the traffic to filter through. The bus lane should end sooner to allow traffic to utilise the left lane fully. As it stands, when the bus reaches this point it becomes trapped in the same traffic attempting to enter the left lane.
