Drain and gulley completed blocked with mud

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 21:53, Thu 7 November 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6707522.

This drain has been blocked with mud for several years and no attempt has been made to clear it. In addition, there is a drainage ditch in the verge on the other side of the lane, but water flows down the lane instead. There is a constant stream of water or discharge down this section of the lane. As soon as it begins to freeze, it will become very dangerous

  • Drain is blocked (unable to attach photo as don't know how to do it). Others up the road toward village are clear so the problem ios here or below. Also, previous writer noted ditch on opposite side of road that originates just outside gate of Side Farm. Water flows from this gate all year but there is no way for it to enter the ditch, so it (as previous writer noted) flows down the road and crosses it toward the blocked drain instead. I have noted this continuous drainage from the gate area in a previous post in 2023 or 2024!

  • The ditches and gulleys urgently need clearing and the source of the constant flow of water from by Side Farm needs to be investigated and the water diverted so that it doesn’t flow down the lane. The attached photos are ice (not snow) on the road by Orchard Farm a few weeks ago. These were taken a day or two after it had started to melt; it had been much worse.
