Flooding from the pond in Brookbridge Lane after heavy rain.

After heavy rain, a river flows from the pond in Brookbridge Lane, through houses and into Abbots Close then into gardens of houses on Datchworth Green. This has happened twice in the last 18 months having not happened before (at least in the last 30 years) causing thousands of pounds of damage to the property concerned.

  • I (and others affected) did get a letter on August 14 from Suzanne Phillips at Herts District Council asking for details of the flooding so hopefully it will be investigated.

  • The problem has not yet been fixed but I understand that EHDC has collated the returned questionnaires from 1400 households that were all flooded on July 17 and will be meeting this week to discuss their response.

  • A drain company has found a collapsed drain beyond Abbots Close which may have something to do with the flooding. I have emailled EHDC about this but have not yet received a reply from them yet.

  • I have had no further replies from EHDC so am keeping sand bags around my doors.
