Sinkhole under the pavement DANGER TO CYCLISTS

Reported via desktop in the Footways and Pavement damage category by Ken Jeddere-Fisher at 11:53, Mon 4 November 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6692298.

A sinkhole has appeared on the pavement on the North side of the A4095 between the Cuckoo Lane and Boddington Lane turnings. This could be disastrous if it collapsed under a bicycle while a car was passing. Sinkholes have appeared along this stretch before. Is there cause such as a leaking pipe or drain that could be rectified to prevent future problems?

  • The hole at the surface is 6 - 8 cm across. The cavity beneath extends 30cm both outwards and downwards. So this is a real hazard.
