Blocked drain.

Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 16:21, Sun 3 November 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6689740.

The drain outside No.24 has been blocked for thirty years. It consistently floods and leaves large amounts of standing water. It has rotted wooden fence posts and gates. It has covered families and young children in dirty water as the rest of the road is clear so drivers don't notice it. It is now cracking the tarmac. It freezes in cold temperatures and causes a slip hazard and road hazard. In thirty years it has been suction cleaned maybe twice. This does not and has not solved the issue. There is clearly a more serious blockage in the drain. How nobody has been seriously hurt yet is a miracle. I have reported it many times throughout the years and yet the issue persists and worsens! Is a serious injury or accident required for assistance on such a matter?

  • The road has been swept but the drain is still blocked to the top. It will flood again. The problem is not fixed by road sweeping 'to make it look clean and fixed'. There is clearly a deep underlying problem. Using a vacuum does not fix it either.
