Wooden Post Unstable

Reported via mobile anonymously at 12:45, Thursday 31 October 2024

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6680021.

There is a wooden post that is on the highway boundary that has been hit multiple times by visiting traffic over the past few months. This post is now lodged at an angle and not stable or easily visible. It has a lump of concrete at the bottom of it making it difficult for residents to remove, as they wish for this to happen due to the damage and issues it has caused previously. Additionally, it is at a height that means it cannot be seen in any mirrors when people are reversing, hence the reason it has been hit so many times. On top of this, the reflectors that are placed along the top to make it visible during the night, a worry now the nights are getting longer, are damaged and worn and no longer work. While it is on the end of a residents garden it is not on their property and is classed as on the highway.

  • Please see photos showing how the concrete lump at the bottom of the post is no longer in the ground and unstable. The post itself is sitting at an angle as the hole is grown over and the post is too heavy for residents to remove themselves to make it safe. Additionally you can see the damaged reflectors that no longer work causing an increasingly worrying hazards with the darker mornings and evenings.
