Blocked drain causing water on pavement

Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain category anonymously at 07:10, Tue 29 October 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6669809.

The drains on the corner of Pickhurst Lane and Hayes Gardens are blocked (outside number 7, I think). This is causing water from the spring to overflow and pool on the pavement. As soon as it gets colder this will turn to ice causing a major slip hazzard, and the council will have numerous claims for broken limbs to contend with.

  • It’s got nothing to do with blocked drains. It’s because it’s a natural spring with nowhere for the water to go, that it goes down the pavement. It has been like this for years. As stated it’s a nature occurrence. Why would the council be at fault if someone willingly walks over ice and then falls to break a bone? If there is doubt over a clear patch of ice, wouldn’t it be sensible to cross the road?
