A crash waiting to happen

Reported via mobile in the Hedges category anonymously at 17:12, Monday 28 October 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 7 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 6668640.

The hedges both sides of the Vulcan view entrance/exit have still not been cut back. Does an accident need to happen before we are listened too? You can not turn right out of the road and have to keep nudging forward to have the view to turn left.

  • Why are you not maintaining ANY verges, hedgerows, cycle paths or footpaths along Skimming Dish Lane, Vulcan View, Charbridge Lane and Bicester Road (to Launton) - there are loads of reports dating several months stating that vegetation has encroached so much that entire footpaths are gone! Oh, and I nearly had a lorry plough into me today as I exited Vulcan View as I can't see more than a few meters to the right. Not that you'll do anything mind you - got to grow that big ol' pile of cash further right?

  • The hedgerow and bushes either side of the Vulcan View junction are making the already dangerous junction, event worse. We have a new driver in our household and are concerned about them exiting the road that they live on. Vehicles travel at speed towards the roundabout at the launton road as there is no signage to suggest a junction is ahead of the roundabout. Similarly, coming from the launton road, you are often 'pushed' along by vehicles behind that assume you have left your indicator on, as again, there is no signed that alerts road users to there being a turning there.

I have also had a near miss when pulling right, as a lorry heading towards the launton road roundabout was clearing travelling at excess speed and could not slow down once seeing i had pulled out, therefore i had to instinctively pull back into the turning lane, leaving me a sitting duck!

Considering the amount of road 'improvements' that are happening in Bicester at present, it is hard to understand how this junction has not been improved or at the very least maintained.
