Dangerous Visibility Issues at Lydhurst Road Driveway Junction

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 01:48, Sat 26 October 2024

Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6659964.

I am reporting a serious safety concern regarding poor visibility when exiting the residential driveway onto Lyndhurst Road. The situation has become increasingly hazardous over recent years due to:

Vehicles consistently parking on both sides of the driveway entrance, severely restricting visibility in both directions Particular issues with trade vehicles parking on the single yellow line to the right of the driveway, which:

Blocks sightlines when exiting the driveway Makes it difficult to safely turn into the driveway Creates additional hazards during morning peak traffic

Proposed solutions:

- Implement stricter enforcement of parking restrictions on the single yellow line, especially to the right of the driveway

- Install a convex safety mirror on the Openreach pole opposite the driveway to improve visibility of oncoming traffic

This is a significant safety issue that affects all residents of the block of flats and requires urgent attention to prevent potential accidents. The current situation forces drivers to edge out blindly onto Lyndhurst Road, creating dangerous conditions for both residents and other road users.
