Several potholes and cracks in the road surface.

There are several long-standing potholes on this stretch of road. They are often filled with water due to blocked drain-covers, which is making them worse.

  • It seems that Hants County Council don't think that the multiple potholes and cracks are enough of a problem yet, as they're taking no further action! They're already deep enough to give quite a rough ride in a car, and cyclists have to take extra care. Will it take an RTA to pursuade the council to correct this situation?

  • The road was closed earlier this week due to water seeping from a broken mains pipe. The pipe has been repainted. Is an assessment needed to determine if the leaked water has done further damage to the road bed?

    The two major holes have been patched (unevenly). There are several others remaining. I have raised a separate call to HCC Roads dept about the possibility of a more general ground water problem in this area. They are investigating.

    A correction to my previous update: one of the photos I uploaded was irrelevant to the problem. I attach the correct photo. The salting of the road at the time, due to recent frost, highlights the cracks in the road surface.
