Blocked ditches under pavement

Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 22:19, Friday 11 October 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6605595.

There are two ditches that run under the pavement from the road to a ditch behind the sports pavilion. Both ditches are blocked with silt under the pavement and have been for getting worse for years. This causes flooding on the road which ices over in the winter. Because they have been blocked for so long, and the road regularly flooded the mortar of the stone arches supporting the pavement above has now been eroded away such that they will collapse (see picture 'ditch 2')

  • Please note this was reported in June 2019 and December 2023. The last reported closed because there were too many to deal with at that time. This could have been carried out in the summer, it wasn't and now continues to be a problem which will become more serious and expensive when the stone arch holding up the pavement collapses
