Collapsed culvert and sink hole created above

Reported via desktop anonymously at 13:15, Tue 8 October 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council 7 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 6565931.

Up the stream from the water pumping station a culvert has collapsed and caused a massive hole in the ground above it (like a sink hole). This is adjacent to the Oxfordshire Way footpath (bridge over the stream) and concerned as could cause someone serious harm. The area has been fenced off for safety however this is not safe and would also not stop animals getting trapped/injured. Please could this be looked into urgently and advised who is responsible for fixing this. Many thanks Weston on the Green Parish Council

  • The hole is adjacent to a footbridge over a channel on the Oxfordshire Way. It is accessed from Church Lane (following Oxfordshire Way), take a left at the Thames water pumping station (photo attached from Church Lane) follow the road up and the footpath is on the left (in photo) leading to the back of The Manor Hotel. Thames Water have confirmed they are not responsible for the pipe. Many thanks

Oxfordshire County Council is not responsible for this problem as this culvert is private and it will be down to the landowner to repair the structure. The report will now be closed on Fix My Street.
