Wrong colour and damaged paving slabs in Kingswood Rd, Shortlands 5m SW of jct with Mays Hill Rd
Reported via mobile in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 22:21, Sat 5 October 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6556113.
Please would you kindly re attend the two paving slab steps, across the grass verge, in Kingswood Rd, Shortlands 5m SW of jct Mays Hill Rd (a) to replace the anomalous two pink flagstones so they are grey like all the others (much as I prefer cheerful pink to depressing grey). There was one pink one in Streetview, now there are two! (b) to replace the chipped grey slab (c) realign the slipped grey slab. (d) Might you add a handrail for the elderly and infirm? What are the rules please about steps without handrails?

Please stop using this gobbledegook reply. I thought the photos were obvious. Clearly not. Here are three of the same photo with each of the report issues circled in orange. A) Two grey flagstones have not been replaced in the correct colour for the rest of the steps and footway. Would you have put a pink slab in the yellow brick Bromley pedestrianised area? B) The upper eastern slab has slipped and presents an uneven edge to all including the elderly, partially-sighted and blind persons C) The upper, western side slab has a corner broken off You have not bothered to respond to my query about whether a handrail is legally or desirable required.

Thank you for your update. The red paving slabs recently installed do not present a safety issue. They are in keeping with several sections of Kingswood Road that were originally red and now due to weathering appear grey. No further action will be taken on this issue.
London Borough of Bromley do not install hand rails at locations such as this. No further action will be taken on this issue.
We note your report of damaged stone paving on the top step. Our Minor Works team will arrange an inspection and arrange works if considered a safety issue.

Appropriate action has NOT been taken to resolve the issues.
Here are two photos, on 5/10/24 the date of my report, and tonight Tuesday 24/10/24.
The two pink slabs have been moved to the top level. They are still the wrong colour.
The two upper grey slabs have been moved to the lower level and now have large white crosses on them.
The one with the large corner chip is still there on the right. The one on the left also now has a smaller chipped corner.
The only thing 'fixed' is that the upper level slabs are now all in a straight line.
Please actually attend to the outstanding issues I raised: (a) please replace the, now two, pink slabs with grey to match the adjoing slabs on steps and footway (b) please replace the, now two, chipped grey slabs with grey slabs in good condition. (c) please respond as to whether a handrail is legally or desirably required (for all, including mobility or sight impaired persons) in good conditions and for when the steps may be slippery (Eg algae, rain or ice).
Finally, how difficult is it be to maintain 6 paving slabs in good order?
