Properties in proximity to Stapeley Broad Lane School

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category anonymously at 10:53, Fri 27 September 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6522940.

A number of the properties in proximity to Stapeley Broad Lane School on the same side of the road as the school have T bar markings across the driveways to help ensure that unsafe parking does not occur, this is not just for safe access to the properties but these areas also act as natural relief areas for passing vehicles during school drop off and pick up times due to the significant number of cars parked along the road on the school side. The parking reduces the road to a single lane for approximately 200m each side of the school and these relief pull-in areas allow vehicles travelling in opposing directions to safely pass, when these areas are obstructed by parked cars there are no safe passing places and vehicles mount the pavement to pass, this puts the pedestrians using the footway at risk. This was raised in 2019 as needing attention on Highways Enquiry 3348873 and was supposed to be scheduled for the next programme of line marking in this location. Today there has been a team remarking lines on the road but the T bar markings have not been reinstated. As you can see from the photo they are almost completely eroded and this now needs to be considered as an urgent health and safety issue. There is a genuine risk of serious injury or death of a pedestrian at times when vehicles are parked for the school due to the lack of maintenance of these markings, given that the event is related to school pick up/drop off there are a much higher number of pedestrians that at other times many of which are young children.
