Gen enq rcvd 23.09.24 - Details of your enquiry: I live on Hawthorns Road near the entrance to the quarry. The entrance has in previous years been inundated with rain water. I checked it this morning as we have had fairly consistent rain in last 24 hours. It has not yet filled up the road drain. The quarry has a very large tarmac hard standing and rain runs down this mainly into road drain. I can see no surface water drains - there is a small (in respect to the size of hard standing) grid drain under the gates but this is over grown and blocked. Can you advise who can take up this issue - the quarry is currently trying to start operations again but this should not be connected to this issue - it needs resolution. I have tried to read the government “Discharges to surface water and ground water” but too complex - it does though say “You do not need a permit …… from small areas of hardstanding to surface water.” This is not a small area. Can you advise who should address this?
