Overgrown brambles/shrubs

Reported via mobile in the Obstruction blocking access category anonymously at 06:58, Fri 20 September 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6492489.

This problem was reported in 2023, nothing has been done apart from bizarrely the council has planted for silver birches within the over growth (they are dying due to lack of light). You’ve also been and cut down a tree in this time but no maintenance has been done to the border/verge. The brambles and shrubs make the pavement less than one person wide, even then you have to duck to avoid clothing being caught on brambles. Anybody in a wheelchair or those needing assistance next to them could not safely pass. This is a busy road & you’re often forced off into it when people are coming the other way. There is also a lack of safe crossing points on this road so you can’t easily just cross to other pavement either.

  • The problem along side this very busy footpath will not be resolved until the brambles and wild shrubs are properly removed by digging out. It is a very narrow verge, and the general overgrowth has narrowed the path considerably. The brambles etc are dangerous to everyone and especially to the poor sighted. At present it must be difficult for wheelchair users and pram pushers. It is also very difficult to walk side by side if assisting someone with disabilities.
