Garage forecourt taking up entire footpath
Reported via desktop in the Car parking category anonymously at 13:34, Thu 19 September 2024
Sent to Leicester City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6490292.
Corner of Queens Road and Clarendon Park Road: It is difficult for pedestrians to walk on the pavement in front of this garage due to it being used as a forecourt for cars. Sometimes there is no option but to walk out into the traffic, which is risky. I have seen elderly people and people with prams being forced to do this. There are no markings on the forecourt to indicate which part of it, if any, is for pedestrians.

Council parking enforcement team advised that the garage has the right to park cars anywhere on the forecourt. This means there is no path for pedestrians. There is an accessibility issue for people with prams, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

No progress. This not a parking enforcement issue. It's an accessibility issue.

Can be very difficult for pedestrians to cross the forecourt due to number of cars parked on it. Sometimes have to walk on the road. Would be very difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

Nothing has been done so the problem persists.
