Phasing changes causing issues

Reported in the Traffic lights category by Stewart Rogers at 17:46, Tue 7 July 2009

Sent to Kent County Council 4 minutes later

The phasing of these traffic lights has been changed once again.

Last year there were changes made and eventually the old, almost immediate light change phasing was returned.

Now the lights have been changed again to include a very long delay even when there is no traffic on the other side of the bridge.

This causes two distinct problems:

1. The traffic is now queuing at busy times all the way back to Vale Rise on one side and Hectorage Lane on the other, which has knock-on effects for traffic and public transport on either side of the bridge.

2. You can see a difference in drivers who have been waiting a long time when there are no cars coming in the other direction - they become annoyed and move away at speed, which is not helpful when the area is covered by a 20 mph limit.

Please return the phasing to the previous plan, that saw the lights change almost instantly when the bridge was clear and there were no cars waiting at the other side.
