Spurious Speed Limit Sighns

Reported via mobile in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 09:10, Sat 14 September 2024

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6470549.

Speed limit signs have been in place for about six months on the A149 between Burnham Overy Staithe and Wells. These seem to relate to gravel spreading carried out about six months ago. No further work has been done since then. How about removing the signs? Maybe even do a proper resurfacing job first?

Updates

  • I had this in response:

"The Highways team have responded with the following response –

The signs have been placed due to a failure in the surface dressing on certain sections. The County Council are in the process of producing a resurfacing scheme to replace the affected sections, and the temporary speed limit has been placed until a better surface can be laid, this covers the whole site for the safety of road users. This work is scheduled to be undertaken in January next year. Once the work has been completed the signs will be removed."

Given the poor state of all the roads in the area, it seems daft to restrict this particular stretch, but hey-ho there you go....
