Lack of clear lane signage

Reported via mobile in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 19:28, Fri 13 September 2024

Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6470015.

Exiting A23 southbound I was crashed in to by someone turning left on to the A2300 dual carriageway from the right-lane when I wished to go straight on to the services from the left lane.

There is no clear signage over what lane should go where with both drivers believing they were right.

Lane markings indicating which is appropriate for the services would really help here possibly combined with a single lane east-bound opening to two.

Updates

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 19:31, Fri 11 October 2024

  • I have received an update from WSCC Highways, who report there have also been 2 "slight injury" collisions recorded at this location in the last 5 years.

However, they cannot do anything about this directly, instead suggesting I apply for a Community Highway Scheme (CHS).

Upon investigating this, it requires the support of my local Councillor, so I have emailed Joy Dennis for the next step to attempt to progress this.
