Contractors have left damaged stairs and smashed fences

Reported via mobile in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 14:16, Thu 5 September 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6439925.

Contractors working on the bridge have smashed the paving slabs on the steps, broken and left birdsmouth fencing with sharp metal edges at the side of the path, and damaged the edge of the asphalt. They have also left a big pile of dead brambles and have not appeared to reseed the damaged grass. The steps are dangerous especially to pedestrians at night.

Council ref: ENQ241015888

  • None of this damage is new and was not caused by the contractors.

It all existed before they arrived.

  • 100% incorrect. I walk this path almost every day. The third step up had a chipped corner. There were no other damaged steps, which is obvious because the top steps are fine, as are the steps on the other side of the bridge.

Hopefully photos were taken prior to work commencing so Greenford Construction pay for the damage rather than council tax payers. I see they have reseeded the verge and moved the fence so I'm sure they will be keen to fix the most dangerous damage too
