I am writing to bring to your attention several issues caused by the council-owned trees along the boundary of my property at 1A Renton Avenue, Guiseley, LS208EE. These trees are causing significant problems due to their size and limited maintenance or inspection, including:
Root Damage: The roots have damage my drainage system, leading to blockages and potential flooding, we have had two root removals and are now having to have all the sewers lined to protect from the tree roots Subsidence: The roots from the Council Trees have lifted multiple pathing slabs leading to our property which are now a trip hazard, they are also lifting tarmac in several areas Excessive Growth: The height and density of the trees are severely restricting light into my property and garden, they also worryingly move during storms, it only feels a matter of time before one falls Encroaching Branches: Branches are encroaching onto my property, including telephone lines, and causing damage. Bird Nuisance: Birds nesting in these trees are defecating on children’s play equipment and vehicles. Storm Debris: During storms, large branches and debris fall onto the road, my property and vehicles, causing damage but also posing a safety risk (due to falling branches / potentially full tree) Impact on Existing Trees: The council trees are encroaching on my apple trees and holly bush, affecting their growth.
Given these issues, I kindly request that the council take immediate action to prune and maintain these trees to prevent further damage and ensure safety. I’m happy to send through any images but would request that a tree safety inspection is undertaken asap
