Bulk of sand left on the road 48-50 Lightcilffe Road - N13 5PW

Reported in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category anonymously at 18:06, Sun 31 May 2015

Sent to Enfield Borough Council 4 minutes later

A big bulk full of sand (from Travis Perkins) has been left on the road since Easter 2015. We have left notes on both houses opposite asking for this to be removed, with no luck. The parking in the area is very limited and having this bulk there does not help.

Updates

  • Looks like it doesn't have any lights, so I would ring the second number on http://www.enfield.gov.uk/ info/ 200007/ licensing_and_registration/ 103/ building_materials/ 2 (I suspect that will result in the council adding lights and charging the owner of the materials for the cost of doing so).

The other reason given for the council removing it is dangerous placement. There appears to be no provision for parking spaces.

(Most councils have a licensing system for such storage, but Enfield appear to be developing, but not yet operating one.)

It's not a refuse and recycling issue. The closest category is Roads/highways, but if it abandoned, it would be flytipping.

This update is not from the council.

  • The bulk of sand is still there, I have also reported it to the council and I even called Travis Perkins. They said there was nothing they could do.

  • I don't understand the reference to also reporting it to the council. That is basically what FMS does.

The council should be able to deal with materials obstructing the public highway. I wouldn't expect the supplier to be responsible for the actions of their customers, although, if they delivered it, they would probably have to tell the council enforcement officer any information they had about the customer.

  • The bulk was finally removed, no idea how this was resolved but pleased to see it gone!

    State changed to: Fixed
