  • Dear Resident. Thank you for your report about the street light. Our light unit has been checked and all its connections are tight and good on this Electricity Company (SSEN) wooden pole with their overhead cables connecting across here. Our street light is clear of any overhanging vegetation but i note that their cables pass through a lot of trees/bushes nearby and i suspect that may be the cause of the problem when the wind blows. Furthermore i spoke with a nearby neighbour who told me that their house lights do the same when its windy which seems to confirm that its a SSEN (Scottish and Southern Electricity Network) problem. You may not personally experience that same fault as its a 3-phase cable network and it way only be affecting 1 phase which you aren't necessarily connected to. We will pass this information to SSEN but i would recommend that you do likewise as an affected resident thanks.

  • Thank you for the response but you are not looking at lamp post 2A as it is a green metal post not a wooden one. Outside house number 119 Abingdon Road. Pls check this as I need to get it fixed for the longer winter nights.

  • Thanks for your response and update. Lamp 2A doesn't yet appear on our records as it is part of s278 works by the adjacent developer of Chestnut Drive etc and these lights have not been completed, inspected and adopted by the County Council and hence the confusion here. However i have asked my maintenance contractor to have a quick check that all electrical connections are tight on this unit....however as previously advised i have also reported to the Electricity Company who are going to check their cables and connections in case its a sign of an impending fault on their network. Once my contractor reports back with any findings we will pass your concern and those findings on to the developer for attention.

  • Dear Pauline Evans my contractor has checked both our lamp 2 and the new developers lamp 2A to make sure all connections are tight and that there are no other obviously defects and also SSE have checked their connections to the lamps and adjacent overhead power cables on the same network and have made sure all their connections are tight and that their cables are adequately sleeved and protected through the nearby trees and bushes .....so we are collectively hoping its cured the issue but i suspect only a windy spell will confirm that. If it does repeat then please come back to let us know thanks.
