Grass so long can't get off the road while walking

Reported via mobile in the Grass category by Colin Dingwalk at 17:21, Wednesday 14 August 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6356798.

The grass verges all around Crawley are so long it is no longer safe to walk on the narrow roads to avoid traffic on these 60mph roads. Dry Lane, Foxburrow Lane, Priesthill Lane. You want us to participate in active travel but it is too dangerous as I found trying to walk to Witney!

Council ref: ENQ241014169

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
