Series of potholes, with one jarring hole, on the upward part of the Port Hill dip heading towards Nuffield.

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 12:24, Wed 14 August 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6355075.

This has been a problem for well over 2 months. Heading from the BP in Nettlebed towards Nuffield, Port Hill dips then starts to climb again - and this is where the road surface is broken on nearside (extending out 2+ feet from pavement) with a succession of smaller potholes and then an alloy crunching larger/deeper one. The problem area ends before reaching the first house on LH side (The Brambles shown on the map). Given size and shape of area could be due to a failed prior repair or utilities trench. Currently you have to move to the middle of the road to avoid the major pothole; once hit you don't want to repeat - it's that bad!

  • Still not fixed. Very rough surface and there is one big hole with no warning lines around it. It is right in the driving line so you need to drive on other side of road, or tight to the curb to avoid it. Unless you know it is there you would drive right into it. Dangerous for drivers and cyclists.

  • Reported in early August, and 2 1/2 months later absolutely nothing has been done to fix this. Unsurprisingly, the road surface is deteriorating further given the volume and type of traffic as an A road. Kindly divert funds from the seemingly unlimited 20mph sign budget, and plane / bond / asphalt the surface properly (not slurry or it'll be the same again in a few months' time).

  • Still not fixed. I reported this months ago and was told it was not bad enough to repair. As others have said, you have to drive in the middle of the road to avoid all the bumps and holes. Please sort it out... it's dangerous on a 60mph road!
