Completely blocked surface water drain
Reported via desktop in the Street cleaning category anonymously at 10:33, Tuesday 13 August 2024
Sent to Milton Keynes Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6349497.
This surface drain is filled solid with dirt coming down Station Road. Its between 31 and 31a Station Road. It really needs to have the double yellow lines extended so that the street sweeper can access it and keep it clear. Its not just surface debris - its solid.

This has still not been looked at. It is not simply blocked at the surface - it is completely blocked right down to the drain. The problem is that because its on a small area of double yellow lines, cars park there and the road sweeper cannot clear it. This means that all the debris from further up the hill on Station Road comes down and settles here and is never cleared. Removing the double yellow line would solve the problem for good instead of this being a recurring problem.

Sorry, the update above should say its beyond the double yellow lines meaning cars park there blocking the road sweeper. Increasing the double yellow lines by a few metres would fix the issue in the long term. In the short term the surface water drain needs unblocking.

Nothing has been done since reporting 1 month ago Do surface drains come under street cleaning or is there a better category to get the report to the right team? Could someone please advise?

No action from Milton Keynes Council. Problem still exists.

Given the issues with heavy rain this year and that rainwater comes downhill from the town centre through Station road I am shocked at the lack of service from Milton Keynes Council. The surface drains are badly blocked - its not just superficial.
