Area unsafe for pedestrians

Reported via desktop anonymously at 16:31, Thu 8 August 2024

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6333094.

This road is being used as a drop off area for rail passengers. Traffic is often travelling at speed and the road markings are not clear (what is the road, what is the footpath?). An accident is inevitable unless traffic is properly controlled and the (5mph) speed limit enforced.

Updates

  • No response, no-one's interested - after all it's only pedestrians who are at risk!

  • Still no action! I witnessed a vehicle travelling at about 30 mph this morning. The 'speed limit' is 5 mph!

  • It's even more hazardous now with construction vehicles coming in and out, parked badly etc.

  • One year on and no response, let alone any action. The problem is now worse with some of the footpaths fenced off for the construction work.

  • The situation is even worse now that construction is well underway. The footpath has virtually disappeared forcing pedestrians to compete with vehicles, many of which are exceeding the speed limit.

  • And now it is much worse! The 'footpath' has gone, leaving pedestrians closer to speeding vehicles.

  • The situation gets progressively worse, as space available for pedestrians is continually reduced. But no-one cares!
