Historic milestone falling over, please reset vertical
Reported via desktop anonymously at 17:03, Wednesday 7 August 2024
Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6328869.
The milestone was knocked over by a tractor cutting the verge last May and reinstated last July, but it wasn't set deep enough and wasn't vertical, so is now falling over. Please arrange for it to be reset at the correct depth so that it's vertical. This is an important heritage asset, and deserves to be protected as such. Please pass on this message to Cherwell District Council's Design and Conservation team and Heritage England.

Thank you for your message. Yes, the milestone is still as I reported in August (perhaps even at a slightly more acute angle). I attach a couple of photographs taken this morning (31 Oct). The position marked on the map here is fairly accurate – it's on the south side of the B4027, about 80m west of the nearest field gateway. I've marked it on Google Maps, clip attached. If you need any further information, please let me know. Many thanks for your attention to the problem.
