Galsworthy Drive dangerous bend

Reported via iOS in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 20:05, Sunday 4 August 2024

Sent to Reading Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6315132.

This has been reported numerous times over the years but there are two current issues that make this potential accident hotspot even more dangerous. The poor sight line on the inside of the sharp bend is now even trickier because of the very unkempt leylandi hedge bordering 25 Galsworthy Drive. The second issue concerns the incomplete double yellow lines on the outside of the bend. A short section from Jordan Close was painted but this could not apparently be completed because the work coincided with City Fibre excavations. This means that no lines were painted outside 38-40 Galsworthy even though this was part of the RBC approval. This was ages ago and no-one appears to have realised that the job has remained incomplete ever since.

Updates

  • The householder has now trimmed the hedge but it still too close to the kerb and the sight line is not much better. RBC have promised their contractor will paint the missing lines.
