Dead tree dropping large branches onto public footpath and into my garden

Tree is dead and looks about to topple. There is a well used footpath right next to it adjoining the lake. A similar sized tree next to it came down 3 years ago and destroyed my fence and shed resulting in compensation being paid to me. I don’t want this to happen again and am more concerned about possibility of injury as path is very popular with dog walkers and school children. It’s covered in dead thick ivy branches and I think could fall if not felled.
