Blocked path

Reported via desktop anonymously at 11:42, Wednesday 24 July 2024

Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6269417.

As someone with restricted mobility the only time i leave my house on foot is for a slow 10 minute walk with the dog. As someone with restricted mobility and Autism I should not have to walk in the road to get to the end of the crescent. Nor should anyone, especially people with small children or other disabled people. This is a regular problem, especially between 5pm and 9am, made worse in winter when you have to risk the road in the dark!

Updates

  • It will come as no surprise that due to police intervention things have got worse. Instead of one vehicle blocking the path there are now two! The white vehicle doesn't even live in this area, and is using the path as airport parking. Apparently because the person doing it is on holiday they can't be asked to move it? Bishops Stortford police as usual won't intervene on anything that requires paperwork! Now you have to walk in the road for over 10 metres near a busy corner to get around them, and if you are disabled or with a pushchair it is 25 metres on the road from ramp to ramp. Don't bother speaking to your local Councillors as they are too busy to respond or represent East Herts council in events!
