Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6267283.
This issue has been reported twice. Both times no further action needed. Reported again last week, email received case no 526122. I believe you are looking at the wrong tree. The beech tree in question is at the front of houses 6/7 Bankside Close, on the green.. NIT at the rear of the orioerties on the boundary of the footpath and Lusted Hall Farm. By next year 2025 my Broadband cable will be compromised. This tree has not been attended to in the 34 years I have lived n this property, ditto the enormous Laurel which has now taken over one third of the Green area, and neighbours have to cut it back from the footpath. I might also add that since you finally came and reinstated the original Wood Road/Sweivlands footpath, I have had to clear it TWICE with my hedge cutter. Please provide a FOOTPATH sign

We are aware that you have reported this twice and we have inspected this tree at this location and no further action is needed. Regarding the Footpath Sign and Handrail and Hedge these are issues for other Departments to address. That is why we kindly request that new and separate occurrences of issues are logged as new reports to avoid conflicting information or updates. This helps us ensure smoother communication between all and helps us ensure that the correct information is given to our teams and contractors. Please log issues regarding footway surfaces, handrails, fencing, streetlamps, potholes etc via https://fix.bromley.gov.uk as a new report using the map marker and provide full location, details, and photos. Thank you.

Please note the issue regarding the Broadband Cable. As per the Bromley Tree Management Strategy, we do not prune trees interfering with utility cables or phone lines. Our policy is based on the 1984 Telecommunications Act whereby those other private company service providers are obligated to maintain their networks in good working condition using the monthly fees their customers pay. It is not for Bromley Council to maintain those networks in working order. In the case of phone cables, please contact OpenReach. In the case of power cables, contact UKPN. These companies are responsible for the repair and upkeep of their cable network including pruning back of street trees. They have specialist utility arboriculture teams to work near these lines which may involve the temporary disconnection of services. The LBB tree surgeon contractors do not clear or work around any overhead cables.

Regarding the tree size situated on this public amenity green. The tree is in good condition and it has grown since it was planted. It is a mature beech tree appropriate for this location. The tree branches do not obstruct the use of the public footpath. Bromley will only undertake works to a tree for an identified health & safety or highway obstruction issue. Please note that as outlined in our Tree Management Strategy Trees – London Borough of Bromley
The Council will not prune or remove trees in relation to the following: • Branches overhanging properties • Lack of light • Where a tree is thought be overly large • Interference with solar panels or satellite, TV, or other media reception • Branches and/or limbs in physical contact with telephone wires • Leaf fall • Fruit fall • Shedding of small twigs • Problems associated with pollen • Excreta caused by insects or birds • Obstruction of the view from house windows
The situation will be reviewed cyclically as part of our programme of tree condition surveys and safety inspections.
