Environmental Health referral request.

Reported via desktop in the Flytip category anonymously at 18:52, Tue 23 July 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6266869.

I am aware that this report is regarding private property and that this will not be actioned by LBB. The request here is for a referral to Environment Health for enforcement action. Several bags of domestic rubbish were dumped in the rear car park of the Demelza charity shop several months ago, and recently more rubbish has been added to the pile. On two recent occasions rats have now been observed in the rubbish, and this needs to be cleared to prevent both more rats arriving, and also to remove the incentive for any more rubbish to be dumped at the location. The rubbish is on the right hand border of the car park as viewed from Gravel Pit Way, by the fence.

  • As per the original comment I was aware from the start that this is not on LBB land. However, as the refuse is attracting vermin my understanding is that this constitues a public health hazard and it is within the remit of Environment Health to enforce a land owner to clear the waste. This was the request - please can this be referred?

  • As the issue concerns rubbish on an area which is not public highway or is regarding pest control or other public health issue, this report has been passed to Environmental Health to investigate and is now closed on FixMyStreet. For information, enforcement action against rubbish will be taken depending on the nature of the accumulation. Bromley Council only have powers to enforce the removal of rubbish which contains material that could attract pests or pose a risk to public health.
