Severely overgrown trees

Reported via iOS in the Trees category anonymously at 02:24, Saturday 13 July 2024

Sent to Cardiff Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6224338.

There is a pathway that runs behind Halifax Close, Handley Road and ends at the start of Hind Close, next to Tesco Petrol Station.

This entire pathway is very dangerous at night because the tree coverage is completely encompassing the street lighting, to the point the lights may as well not be there. I’m honestly not being dramatic, the lights are entirely engulfed by trees.

I recognise that requests for tree cutting must be one of the councils most popular services however, this definitely qualifies as necessary given the fact its council land, an immediate and imminent risk to public safety and a waste of electricity (and the £ for it) given the lights are essentially rendered obsolete given the lack of light penetrating through the tree coverage.

It’s also worth nothing that other pathways around the park seem to have been addressed already and are well maintained. This one pathway is the only issue in the entirety of Tremorfa Park so I think it’s fair to say it’s worthy addressing.

As a local resident that feels like other areas of Cardiff are shown more love by the council and its subsequent departments, I’d personally appreciate you actioning this job massively. Once again, I want to note that I recognise how busy this council department in particular must be and as a result, I wouldn’t request your services unless I felt it was ABSOLUTELY necessary.
