This new road crossing comes at the bottom of a slope downwards at the end of a wide cycle path. Bicycles are likely to be travelling fast as they come down the slope as they can see the steady rise ahead of them. Although earlier on this new cycle path at a “straight over” road crossing, there are “slow” warnings on the path, there is no warning whatsoever at the traffic light crossover that cycles should slow right down and actually stop. At this crossing, bicycles are meant to jag left to cross the first side of the road at the new traffic light and then turn sharp right half way across in a very narrow island. Due to the narrowness of that right turn bicycles actually have to stop completely. There is no warning that this is the case. Worse, if you do not spot the sharp right turn required, and go straight forward, there is a high white kerb with no warning marks which is very hard to see - it actually looks like a white line on the road. My friend (thinking he could go straight across) did not see this kerb. He hit this and fell heavily onto his head. He has been in the JR hospital for the last week and has had to have spinal surgery.
This crossing BADLY needs much better signage to warn cyclists of the dangers involved. There will otherwise be many more accidents.

I was just about to report this junction. Hope the person is ok.
This junction does not consider cargo bikes and will only be able to hold two to three bikes at a time. Also the light is red for cyclists and pedestrians most of the time to prioritise left turning vehicles. Why?
In the Germany, for example, a flashing amber beacon will warn left turners to give way allowing the majority to cross without impediment.
