Inadequate/damaged road signage

Reported via desktop in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 12:38, Friday 12 July 2024

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6222145.

Chesterfield Avenue is a cul-de-sac. There is a very very old and squint (it may have been hit by a vehicle at some point) road sign indicating that the road is a cul-de-sac but the sign is squint and obscured by trees giving the impression that the cul-de-sac is actually the road to the immediate left (access to Whittinghame Court) As a result, countless number of cars etc daily race at high speed up Chesterfield Avenue and slam on their breaks when the driver realises that the road is a cul-de-sac. Then they u-turn reversing all over the pavements and race down the road again. Kelvindale Primary School is adjacent to Chesterfield Avenue, there are dozens of children using the street and pavements every day. Also very many children/teenagers use the Kelvinside Academy playing fields accessed from Chesterfield Avenue. Weymouth Drive at the top of Chesterfield Avenue has recently been changed to traffic-free as a result of the location of the Primary School. Please replace the sign with 2, one on both sides of Chesterfield Avenue near the junction of the A82 Great Western Road and please please place them in the right direction and away from trees. Please help us, our environment and the safety of our children. Thank you.
